New Wolves’ boss Julen Lopetegui wants Valladolid’s Javi Sanchez

Although he officially begins his new role after the Arsenal fixture on November 12, Julen Lopetegui is keen to turn things at Wolves around by using his connections in La Liga as he eyes strengthening the Wolves’ defense line by signing Valladolid centre-back.

Lopetegui was sacked with Sevilla in 17th position in La Liga after a 4-1 home defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League as he was appointed as the

Wolverhampton Wanderers

' new head-coach last week.

According to

Caught Offside

, the new Wolves boss has already turned his attention to the January transfer window as he's interested in signing Real Valladolid’s

Javi Sanchez

. The Real Madrid academy product is among the key players at Valladolid as he's started 11 out of his side's 12 La Liga matches this season.

Although the 25-year-old has a €25m release clause, it's been reported that Valladolid owner

Ronaldo Nazario

would accept an offer of around €8m as the Los Blancos will receive 50% of the clause.

The former Real Madrid manager is also keen on signing his former player,

Mariano Diaz

, who will be out of contract this summer. Mariano scored 18 goals in 35 Ligue 1 appearances back in 2017-18, after Real Madrid was persuaded to activate their buy-back option.

However, failing to gain Carlo Ancelotti’s trust, the former Lyon striker will be a great addition for Lopetegui at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
