Neymar’s decisive goal seals PSG’s win over Marseille

Paris Saint-Germain grabbed three points in their battle against Marseille courtesy of Neymar’s decisive goal and they are sitting.

Neymar

met the back of the net for the ninth time this season when Paris Saint-Germain locked horns with Marseille. The Brazilian helped his side sit top of the Ligue 1 table with three points in their advantage as they beat Marseille 1-0.

The striker’s goal in the stoppage time of the first half sealed a victory for the Ligue 1 giants. Marseille, on the other hand, saw Samuel Gigot being sent off as he challenged Neymar and were defeated for the first time in an away game this season. Christophe Galtier’s side, meanwhile, kept their unbeaten run, which is 20 games, their longest streak before the 2018-19 season when they enjoyed 21 unbeaten matches.

Pau Lopez’s performance was also outstanding in the first half as he pulled off some incredible saves, keeping Lionel Messi from finding the target early doors in the game. Despite all the efforts, the hosts scored their first goal before the first half was over. Although Marseille were close to pulling the game level when the second half started, they failed to deliver.

Verratti and Kylian Mbappe were on the verge of making their lead doubled but Marseille’s hope to level the game was ruined when Gigot received a red card for his challenge on Neymar.
