Chelsea striker didn't know Tottenham after receiving an offer

The striker of the blues does not know whether Tottenham is a Premier League team or a Sunday League team!

Chelsea striker Armando Broja claimed that he didn't even know the club when Tottenham came to sign him as a teenager.

The Albanian striker, who grew up in Slough, caught the attention of Tottenham, who were trying to attract a younger generation, with his brilliance at a young age, and the club offered him to join their academy. But Broja did not know whether Tottenham played in the Premier League or was a lower division team.

He said:

“I remember going to a tournament. The Tottenham scout actually came to watch another boy. I happened to obviously play well that tournament and I got top goalscorer and I got best player at the tournament so they approached my mum and dad before I even knew about it.

“So, when I came back my mum and dad said, ‘Tottenham came over to us’ and I was thinking, ‘who’s Tottenham?’ Because I was quite young, I didn’t really know anything apart from my Sunday League team. So in my head it was just Burnham Juniors – that’s all I knew!”

He played in Tottenham between 2007 and 2009, but joined Chelsea and spent 11 years in the academy of this team. He spent two seasons on loan at Vitesse and Southampton and has been transferred to Chelsea's first team this season.
