Ross Barkley joins Nice on a free transfer

Former Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has joined Ligue 1 side Nice.

has announced they have signed

Ross Barkley

as a free agent. Barkley played in just six matches for

Chelsea

last season and was released from his contract on Monday. The Ligue 1 club has not confirmed the length of the contract Barkley has signed with them.

Ross Barkley made his Premier League debut aged 18 for Everton and was called up by England before his 20th birthday. Barkley scored 29 goals in 232 games in the Premier League during his career. He also has scored 6 goals in 33 matches for England.

The 28-year-old Barkley has also played for Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa, and Chelsea. Barkley joined Chelsea in 2018 and scored 12 goals in 100 matches for the Blues. He won the Europa League and the FA Cup with Chelsea. 

Nice already have signed Aaron Ramsey, Kasper Schmeichel, Morgan Schneiderlin, Mario Lemina, and Nicolas Pepe.
