With Casemiro announcing on Friday that he will be leaving Real Madrid and Toni Kroos missing last night's match due to injury, Modric was the only player from Real Madrid's brilliant trio to feature in last night's game. He, who recently extended his contract for one year, scored a spectacular goal last night and also registered an assist. After the game, Ancelotti praised the Croatian star and called him immortal.

The Italian said:

“He is immortal. He is always prepared, he always plays very well.

“His goal has changed the game, until then it was an even and competitive game.

“In the second half we improved the start and the transitions were spectacular.”

Real Madrid will face Espanyol in their next match and hopes to increase their gap with their rivals. Ancelotti reiterated that a replacement for Casemiro will not be recruited and that they are trying to make good use of the current players.
