Galtier keen on recruiting more players at PSG

PSG vanquished Gamba Osaka 6-2 on Monday, but the new coach is keen on welcoming new signings.

Christophe Galtier

, the new

Paris Saint-Germain

coach, hinted that the club will sign new players after his side finished the pre-season tour by defeating

Gamba Osaka

6-2.

Notwithstanding star players like Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar all meeting the target on Monday, the new coach did not appreciate his side’s defending, saying that they need to improve as they conceded two goals, which was “too many”.

Messi started next to Neymar and Pablo Sarabia in a 3-4-3 format and PSG netted four goals before the break and each of the front three joined Nuno Mends on the scoresheet.

Neymar found the back of the net for the second time after the break before Mbappe converted a penalty, making sure that the Ligue 1 side finished their Japan tour with three victories from three outings.

Although they have already penned a contract with midfielder Vitinha, PSG are eager to recruit more before their Ligue 1 season begins on August 6.

Nordi Mukiele, the RB Leipzig player, will not be part of the German team’s DFL-Supercup battle against Bayern Munich as he finalizes a move to Paris and Galtier is eager to sign more players.

"The club is working to improve and make this squad stronger,"

he told a post-match news conference.

"We're going to fly, we're going to take a long 12-hour journey, we're going to sleep and when we land we might have one or two, even three more players… We'll see what happens this week."

Galtier made a reputation for himself for having a strong defensive organization and he insisted that PSG need to improve off the ball.

"I'm happy with the first half, the second we were tired. We conceded two goals, two goals too many," Galtier added. "Even if we have a big goal difference, I would like us to be hard to beat. It's a major line of work.

"Annoyed? That's not the term. On the second goal, we have to be more structured and not disorderly. We weren't in the right timing, we couldn't manage to get back on track. This is an important line of work, we have to show a tougher face for future matches.

"[But] even if we don't want to concede too many chances and concede goals, my players' DNA is to play, take risks and attack as much as possible. We're not going to change that."
