Alvarez admits he has already realized a dream playing alongside Messi
Julian Alvarez is going to link up with Norway international Erling Haaland in the attack of the City, but has already played alongside his “idol” for Argentina.

revealed that he has already realized a childhood dream when he played alongside
Lionel Messi
for Argentina, with
Manchester City’s new signing aiming for a place in the World Cup in Qatar.
Alvarez joined Pep Guardiola’s team from
River Plateon a deal worth £14million in January but played for the Buenos Aires side on loan until they were eliminated from Velez Sarsfield on Thursday.
The
Premier Leaguechampions revealed on Friday that Alvarez will join them before the start of the new season, having met the back of the net 54 times in 122 matches since breaking through the youth system of River.
He has won nine caps for his country and met the back of the net when played alongside Messi in their 1-1 draw with Ecuador in March.
Alvarez has to fight for minutes with Lautaro Martinez and Paulo Dybala in Qatar.
"Messi has been my idol since I was a child,"
he told City's website ahead of his arrival.
"He is my family's idol, the idol of my brothers too. So, Messi is a hero for me.
"Playing for my country is a dream come true. I dreamed as a child to play in the national team with Messi.
"To have achieved this at the age of 22 obviously makes me feel very proud, happy, and I have to keep going for more success."
