Ashley Young signs contract extension with Aston Villa

On 17 June 2021, Young returned to Villa for a second spell following the expiration of his contract with Inter, and after a splendid season at Villa Park, has decided to extend his Premier League career after signing fresh terms with Aston Villa.

this evening, Young will spend the 2022-23 campaign with Villa under Steven Gerrard after finishing season 14th last season. Aged 37, Young made 24 Premier League appearances last season, providing 2 assists. He told

following signing a new contract: "It was the ambition of the club, the manager, the staff and the players as well - I wasn't ready to go into retirement just yet.

"When I spoke to the manager towards the end of the season, he told me what he thought about me and that he wanted me to stay. He was a massive factor."

 

Ashley Young

started his professional career back in 2003 at the first division club Watford. In four seasons he established himself as a professional player and grew through the ranks. He made 110 appearances for the side and scored 4 goals. In 2006 he joined Aston Villa and stayed there for five seasons while making 190 appearances and aiming the net for 38 goals. His next stop was the Premier League top flight, Manchester United, where he made an impact. He stayed at the club for 9 seasons and managed to make a lot of wonders.

In 2019 he reached an agreement with the Italian side Inter Milan. He featured in two Serie A seasons. He featured in 59 games while scoring 5 goals for the side. For the 2020-21 season, Ashley went back to Aston Villa.
