Joan Gamper Trophy: Mourinho's Roma set for clash against Barcelona

Barcelona has named Roma as their annual Joan Gamper Trophy rivals, with Jose Mourinho ready to return to Camp Nou.

In August, Jose Mourinho's

AS Roma

team will meet

Barcelona

in the Joan Gamper Trophy at Camp Nou.

The Gamper is Barcelona's season opener, with the Blaugrana facing Juventus in last year's event, which was the first to feature both men's and women's squads.

Barcelona revealed on Wednesday that Roma will be the opponent for this year's edition, which will be held on August 6.

After winning the Europa Conference League with Roma, Mourinho will return to Camp Nou, where he was Louis van Gaal's deputy for three seasons until 2000.

After coaching strong rivals Real Madrid, the Portuguese coach is immensely hated among Blaugrana supporters.

In his three seasons as manager of Real Madrid, Mourinho won the

LaLiga

, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa de Espana.

Roma will not be making their first appearance in the Gamper, having been defeated 3-0 by Barcelona in the 2015 edition.
