Grealish must improve tactically to be a starter - Southgate

The English star was not in the starting lineup, but he had an effective performance when he entered the field.

manager Gareth Southgate has advised

Jack Grealish

that if he wants to become a regular in the England squad, he must improve tactically.

Yesterday, during the confrontation between

and England in Munich, Grealish entered with 18 minutes left in the game. He had a good performance on the left side of the English attacking line and finally the Three Lions were able to respond to Jonas Hofmnan's goal and equalize. Despite the limited time Grealish was on the field, he had 6 touches on the ball in the opponent's box and played an important role in his team's attacks in the final minutes. Although Southgate was pleased with Grealish's performance, he believes the most expensive player in British football history needs to improve tactically.

He said:

"At the start of the game the challenge for the wide players was to attack, defend and to try to score goals – it's a high tactical level and you've got to be spot on.

"That's an area Jack can get better at. What he did do was carry the ball as the game opened up with a bit more space and opportunity.

"The impact he and Jarrod Bowen had was really important in those attacking areas. There's a good challenge there among those players, but we've got to keep pushing them."

"If we didn't trust him we wouldn't put him on the pitch with 20 minutes to go in the belief he can make a difference."
