Totti: Mbappe did what I did 20 years ago, he listened to his heart

Francesco Totti, an AS Roma icon, would love to partake in tonight's Conference League Final versus Feyenoord and respects Kylian Mbappé's choice not to join Real Madrid: "I did the same thing..."

The great

skipper has never won a European trophy with the Capitoline, despite winning the

with Roma in 2001.

“I am tense, I would love to play it; everyone would like to do so,” he told Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by Voce Giallorossa.

He'll be in Tirana tonight to see Feyenoord play in the Conference League Final, but he'd wish he could play in the field. The 2006 Italy World Cup champion talked to RMC Sport ahead of tonight's significant match in Tirana, but the French radio station wanted to know his opinion on Mbappé's choice to stay with PSG after rejecting a Real Madrid bid.

“He listened to his heart, he was raised in Paris. It’s not easy to turn down Real Madrid. I did it 20 years ago to stay at Roma,” said Totti.

Totti turned down an offer from the Los Blancos to join them in 2002, when they proposed €80 million to gain his services from the She-Wolf.

Mbappé, unlike Totti, is not a graduate of the club academy, having joined the

Ligue 1

powerhouse in 2018 after excelling in the AS Bondy and AS Monaco development systems.
