De Ligt set to renew his Juventus contract amid Barcelona interest

Matthijs de Ligt's agreement with Juventus is about to be extended.

According to Sky Sport, as reported by

Diario Sport

, the Dutchman will ink a renewal that will last until 2026.

De Ligt joined the

Series A

heavyweights in the summer of 2019, and while his transition was challenging at first, he is now settling in.

Giorgio Chiellini's moment has arrived now that he has left Turin.

Juventus

are on track to finish fourth in the Italian top-flight this season and qualify for the

Champions League

next season. De Ligt has appeared in 30 Serie A matches this season, as well as four Coppa Italia outings and seven Champions League games.

De Ligt, who is still just 22, has already played five full seasons in the top flight of European football and still has years ahead of him.

He had been rumored to move this summer, with the Old Lady reportedly considering an offer of roughly €85 million and Barcelona allegedly interested, but it appears he will stay.
