Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann says change is needed after the Bundesliga champions defeat at Mainz.

 Bayern Munich

suffered a 3-1 loss at

on Saturday. Robert Lewandowski scored the only goal for Bavarians in this match. That was his 49th goal of the season which is the most of any player in Europe's top five leagues.

Bayern clinched a record 10th straight

title after victory over Borussia Dortmund last weekend.

"We had too many performances and defeats of this kind this season,"

Julian Nagelsmann told reporters after the game.

"I have an explanation for it, but I won't give it to you. It's not for the media. I say it internally.

"After winning the 10th title in a row, it's a bit human but we still have to play for the badge on our chest.

"It seems like the passion isn't really there anymore. We reached a point where something needs to change. That's where we are right now.

"It was not something I enjoyed. Mainz did it well. They had many chances and deserved to win. They had good energy and we did not have it."

Bayern is twelve points above Dortmund and will host Stuttgart next weekend.
