Burnley’s clash against Leicester postponed

Burnley’s battle against Leicester on Saturday has been called off because of the rise in Covid-19 cases as well as injuries in the Clarets’ men.

Burnley

have seen their fourth match postponed because of Covid-19 but it was the first time the Turf Moor side have requested it.

Their other clash against

Tottenham

was also postponed due to heavy snow.

A league statement said:

"The Premier League Board accepted Burnley's application as the club does not have the required number of players available for the match (13 outfield players and one goalkeeper), due to COVID-19 cases and injuries."

Burnley saw three of their clashes canceled in a row, Watford,

Aston Villa

and Everton.

They will lock horns with Watford in a re-arranged match on Tuesday.

Burnley were missing seven players due to Covid 19 because of last week’s 2-1 FA Cup defeat at the hands of Huddersfield, a match which manager Sean Dyche missed.

When quizzed whether he thinks some teams are abusing Covid rules, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said on Friday:

"I strongly, strongly hope that's not the case, otherwise I would be very angry.

"We are doing everything to make games happen and we were made to play when thought maybe we should not. So, I can only strongly hope the rules are the same for everybody."
