Marseille will keep Pau Lopez permanently

Pau Lopez is joining Marseille permanently from Roma after a loan spell.

Roma’s

goalkeeper

Pau Lopez

, who had joined the Ligue 1 side

Olympique Marseille

on a loan deal with a conditional term of buying, is joining the French side permanently despite having multiple offers from other European sides who have shown interest in signing him.

He has made 20 appearances for Olympique Marseille, proving himself as an important part of the Ligue 1 side’s squad, which has convinced them to pay the Serie A side €12m for him, and this will be included in the club’s budget for the next season.

The Spaniard has impressed

Jorge Sampaoli

with his performances since he arrived at the club, taking

Steve Mandanda’s

place in the manager’s starting lineup and becoming a regular starter for them, and considering his struggles in Italy’s first-tier, it must be so good for him to be able to stay in French football at least for now as he is looking to get passed his bad time at Roma.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper joined the Giallorossi in the summer of 2019, going on to make 76 appearances for the club in all competitions.
