Freiburg’s 6-0 thrashing of Gladbach makes Bundesliga history

Gladbach were thrashed by Freiburg with a 6-0 result in the first half in their own backyard.

Freiburg

made history in

Bundesliga

when they vanquished

Borussia Monchengladbach

with a ruthless first-half performance, leading the game 6-0 at half-time on Sunday.

Gladbach endured a humiliating game against Freiburg, who are now the first team in Bundesliga to meet the target five times in an away game in the first 25 minutes of the clash.

Freiburg did not win their last two matches; however, thanks to Maximilian Eggestein and Kevin Schade, they took the lead within the first five minutes of the game. Philipp Lienhart, Nicolas Hofler and Lucas Holer also netted before Nico Schlotterbeck put his side 6-0 up ahead of the break on Sunday.

Stefan Lainer and Alassane Plea climbed off the bench as substitutions in the first half of a horror, with manager Adi Hutter’s job being under a lot of pressure.

Gladbach were the only team to have netted five goals in the first 20 minutes of a game in October 1984 against Braunschweig.
