Chelsea boss reacts to Ralf Rangnick’s recent comments over Chelsea job.
Ralf Rangnick was recently appointed asManchester United
’s new manager until the end of the season. The 63-year-old revealed in his Man Utd press conference that he had turned downChelsea
’s offer to take the charge at Stamford Bridge on a four-month deal after the club decided to part ways with Frank Lampard.
The Blues boss Thomas Tuchel reflected on Rangnick’s comments, saying it is not a surprise that Chelsea approached the experienced manager, although Tuchel hopes that they did it before he took charge at the club.
“So maybe after our draw against Wolverhampton (Tuchel's first match as Chelsea manager), maybe the bosses saw the draw and thought he doesn't know what he's doing so let's bring Ralf in for four months and let him take over,”
the German tactician said when asked about Rangnick’s comments.
"He must have the date wrong, hopefully. Otherwise, it's a nice job to have in world football to be the coach of Chelsea.
"You need to be realistic that if you're getting the phone call, you're not the only one getting the phone call. Now I'm here and I'm happy."
Having collected 33 points in their last 14 domestic matches, the Blues are standing at the top of the Premier League table.
