The Red Devils have started talking with Ernesto Valverde as they are on the lookout for an interim manager to take over the club until the season ends.

Ernesto Valverde

is among the potential candidates to have talked with

Manchester United

, and it is believed that other prominent managers are in the picture for the job.

United are carefully processing the appointment of an interim manager after they sacked

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

last week.

They plan to appoint a permanent manager when the season ends and their main target is

Mauricio Pochettino

The Red Devils have not ruled out making a move for the PSG boss this season, with the ex-

manager keen on joining the Old Trafford, but he insisted that he is “happy” at

Paris Saint-Germain

on Monday.

Pochettino arrived at the Ligue 1 side in January and his contract will keep him until 2023. Valverde, on the other hand, has not been working since Barcelona dismissed him in 2020.

The 57-year-old delivered two Spanish titles as well as the Copa del Rey when he was in charge of Barcelona for two and a half years.

Valverde coached Athletic Bilbao, Villarreal, Valencia and Espanyol, who he guided to the UEFA Cup final in 2007.

Manchester United are also eyeing Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag, who is reported to be eager to replace Solskjaer.

Following their disappointing loss at the hands of Watford, the Norwegian was dismissed after a three-year spell.
