The Portuguese boss was sacked after his side's 3-0 home defeat against Manchester United.
Nuno Espirito Santo has been sacked as Tottenham manager after only 17 games. The clubannounced
their decision in an official statement on Monday.
"The Club can today announce that Nuno Espírito Santo and his coaching staff Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias have been relieved of their duties."
the statement reads.
Espirito Santo replaced Jose Mourinho after the club sacked the Portuguese boss in April. The former Wolves boss registered nine victories, one draw, and seven defeats during his short spell at the club.
Tottenham's sporting director Fabio Paratici told the club's website:
"I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision.
"Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future."
Tottenham are now officially in the market to sign a new coach. The club is heavily linked with
, who was also on top of their wish list when they appointed Espirito Santo before the current campaign.
Earlier this week, the former Inter boss was asked about his potential return to Premier League.
