5-0 conceding three goals in the first 21 minutes is not something that the Bavarians are familiar with, just like getting out of DFB-Pokal with an unexpected 5-0 defeat in the second round.

Ramy Bensebaini and Breel Embolo scored two goals each after Kouadio Kone’s opener in the second minute of the game in a night that Bayern Munich’s head coach Julian Nagelsmann wasn’t able to be with his man after testing positive for covid-19.

The hosts, surprisingly, started the game finding the net two minutes after the kick-off whistle to show that they are not afraid of their big opponents, then they used the Bundesliga leaders’ shock to score two more goals in the next 19 minutes.

The second goal was scored in the 15th minute as Bensebaini doubled the lead for his side converting Hofmann’s cutback into his first and Monchengladbach’s second goal. A few minutes later the situation got worse for the visitors as they gave a penalty that was converted by Bensebaini.

The fourth goal was scored six minutes after the beginning of the second half when Embolo scored from a long pass that got passed behind Upamecano. And this wasn’t enough for Embolo, so he scored another one to complete the Bavarians’ nightmare and send them home with a 5-0 defeat.
