Messy PSG can't use Messi properly - Basile

Wed 20 October 2021 | 10:50

The Argentine star has not yet been able to play at the level he was expected to, although last night saw signs of his return to the good old days.

Former

Argentina

coach Alfio Basile has criticized

Paris Saint-Germain

for using Lionel Messi, claiming the team has a weak defense.

Messi left Barcelona last summer after 20 years as a free agent and moved to Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentine star did not have a good start in France, scoring only one goal in his first four games and missing several games due to injury. He managed to score two goals for his team last night and gained three points against Leipzig.

Now Basile, who led Argentina between 1991-1994 and 2006-2008, winning two Copa América titles and a Confederations Cup, has criticized Pochettino for not using Messi in a proper way.

"The problem that Messi has is that at PSG, he is playing on the right and with Argentina, he plays everywhere, he makes everyone play. PSG have a very weak defence and are very messy,"

Paris Saint-Germain has so far failed to perform well this season and has not met expectations.
