Kostic vows to “look ahead” after failed move to Lazio

The Eintracht Frankfurt winger was heavily linked with a move away from the German side in the summer transfer window.

Since his move from Hamburger in 2019,

Filip Kostic

has become a cornerstone of Eintracht Frankfurt’s attacking unit. The Serbian winger has featured in 135 games for the Eagles, scoring 28 goals and providing 52 assists.

The experienced forward was

linked

with a move to Lazio in the summer transfer window, but the transfer fell through as the Serie A side were not able to satisfy the Serbian’s wage demands.

However, the failed transfer does not seem to have affected Kostic’s performance. The 28-year-old has scored two goals and provided four assists in his six games for Eintracht this season as they sit 13th in Bundesliga.

In a new interview with

Bild

, the Serbia international has spoken about his current form.

"I promised the fans that I would come back even stronger and more motivated, regardless of everything, and I've kept my word,"

Kostic said.

"I don't want to look back at what happened in the past. We are looking ahead,

"The coach is very committed to his work and a great professional. We talked, he showed understanding for the situation I was in, and I thank him for that."

Kostic scored the match-winner for Eintracht in their 2-1 victory against Bayern Munich last week. After the international break, the Eagles will face Bayer Leverkusen in their next Bundesliga game on October 17.
