David Luiz chooses Flamengo over Real Madrid

The Brazilian center-back has turned down the La Liga giants to join Flamengo.

The Brazilian defender who has been without a team since his contract with

Arsenal

expired this summer, and the reports had suggested that

David Luiz

is thinking about a move to his home country to play for

Flamengo

after that the player received an informal offer from

Real Madrid

and has seemingly rejected the offer of playing in La Liga to join the Brazilian side.

Carlo Ancelotti

was the one making the first move in showing his interest in bringing the former PSG and Chelsea’s defender at the age of 34 in a situation that he had lost Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane. The Italian manager had worked with David Luiz when he was at Chelsea and was interested in a reunion with the Brazilian.

Now, after analyzing all the offers and possibilities, Luiz eventually signed an 18-month deal with the Brazilian side and has talked about his decision insisting that he chose Flamengo to experience a peaceful spell there.

"I had a few different options where I could have chosen a quieter life, more peaceful, but I like to do what I feel in my heart,"

Luiz said during his presentation at Flamengo.

"I returned to what God has made a purpose in my life and what I feel in my heart."
