Harry Kane: Man City target does not show up to Tottenham training

The Spurs star has been heavily linked with a move to Etihad Stadium in recent weeks.

Harry Kane

was reportedly not present in Tottenham’s pre-season training on Monday. The 28-year-old was expected to join the north London side following a short holiday.

In May, Kane told the Spurs officials that he wants a move away from the club ahead of the next season. Manchester City, who made a

£100m bid for Kane

in June, are leading the race for the England captain.

The potential departure of Kane might provide unwanted challenges for Nuno Espirito Santo in his first season in charge of the Spurs. The star striker has spent the last ten years at Tottenham, scoring 221 goals in his 336 league games for the north London side.

Speaking at his first press conference as Tottenham’s manager, Espirito Santo was confident he will have Kane for the start of the new season.

"I have no doubts in my mind. What I wish is for Harry to recover well and have a good rest.

"When he arrives he will feel that he has to commit himself to become better. We are ambitious, we want to do well and

we count on Harry to do that.

"Harry is our player, period. There is no need to talk about anything else. Now is the time for him to rest. When he returns we can have a good conversation. I am looking forward to him joining the group."

Kane has three years left on his current contract at Tottenham. Despite their interest in keeping Kane, Spurs are expected to demand a £120m deal for the striker if he insists on leaving the club.
