The Giallorossi forward believes he ‘made the right decision to stay’ at Roma and insisted that he wants what Jose Mourinho desires. ‘We want to win something with La Lupa’.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

knew he would extend his contract with

Roma

and didn’t have any doubts but the 32-year-old revealed that he attracted interest in ‘Italy and abroad’.

I had no doubts,”

Mkhitaryan told

Il Corriere dello Sport

.<em>

“But I wanted to have a fresh head to make the best decision

.

“I had other offers, in Italy and abroad, but the right decision was to stay.”

The Roma forward was targeted for a move away from Roma when

Jose Mourinho

was appointed as the manager, but he insisted that the issues the two had at Manchester United are past them and he is keen on working with the Portuguese tactician.

What happened in Manchester stays there,”

he continued.

“We spoke as mature people, we both want to go down the same path, we both want to win something with Roma, the only thing that matters this year.”

The ex-United forward warned their Serie A rivals that Roma are going to compete for the title.

I have never played just to have fun. Without the trophies at the end of your career, you have nothing left,”

Mkhitaryan continued.

“Those who aim to win the Scudetto this year, will have to deal with Roma. My teammates and I want to win to remain in the history of the club.”
