The 27-year-old Dutchman is one of Barcelona's most intriguing additions this summer. He played his first game for the club last Saturday evening, scoring a penalty in a 3-1 defeat over Girona.

In an interview with

, Memphis Depay stated he feels completely at home in Catalonia.

"Everyone's been very kind to me, I feel really welcome in the dressing room and that's a feeling that makes you feel very comfortable," he said. "Of course, the level of training is high, but that makes me happy because it's what I felt I needed in my next step as a professional."

Memphis stated it was a simple decision to come to Barcelona amid more attractive offers elsewhere.

"It's a great club," he said. "I think it suits my way of playing and I love this city. There are many reasons [for choosing Barcelona]."

Memphis is coming off a solid performance with the Netherlands at

Euro 2020

. His team was eliminated in the final 16 by the

Czech Republic

, although the forward performed admirably. He has two goals and one assist during the tournament.

Memphis scored 20 league goals and provided 12 assists for Lyon last season, putting him in double digits in both goals and assists. He was also shone in the

Champions League

last season, scoring six goals and adding one assist in eight matches.

Memphis moved up through

PSV Eindhoven

's youth academy before joining

Manchester United

at the age of 21, but he struggled to adapt during his two years stint in England. He ultimately proved his worth in

Ligue 1

with Lyon, becoming a regular on the Dutch national team lineup and achieving his dream transfer.
