Manchester United agree Raphael Varane transfer with Real Madrid

Manchester United have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the signing of Raphael Varane.

The World Cup winner has signed a four-year deal with an option of a further year.

The two clubs have reached an agreement of £41 million for the defender and he is expected to complete his transfer after a medical.

It is believed the actual price is £34 million plus £7m add-ons with the payments being spread out over a number of years.

Varane

is United’s second major summer signing following the arrival of

Jadon Sancho

from

Borussia Dortmund

.

A statement from the Premier League club read:

"Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of French international defender and World Cup winner, Raphael Varane, subject to a medical and to player terms being finalized."

The former

Lens

defender made 360 appearances for

Real Madrid

since joining them in 2011, winning three La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, and the Copa del Rey, as well as the World Cup with France in 2018.
