Tottenham sign Atalanta keeper Gollini on loan with option to buy

The Spurs will have an obligation to buy the goalkeeper if he features in 20 matches next season.

Tottenham completed the loan transfer of

Pierluigi Gollini

on Saturday. The Italy international will join the Spurs on an initial season-long loan deal. However, Tottenham will have to sign a permanent contract with the player if he makes 20 appearances for the north London side. The activation of this option will reportedly cost around €15m.

Gollini is Tottenham’s first signing under Nuno Espirito Santo. The Italian goalkeeper featured in 20 matches for Aston Villa before joining Atalanta, where he played as the club’s number one goalkeeper for three seasons. Gollini has made one appearance for Italy, but he was not included in the Azzurri’s squad for Euro 2020.

Atalanta have already signed Udinese’s

Juan Musso

as Gollini’s replacement. However, Musso is expected to be challenged by La Dea’s current number one,

Marco Sportiello

, who displayed impressive performances last season.
