Romano: ‘Spurs have agreed terms with Atalanta’s Cristian Romero’

Tottenham have been connected with Romero, who has already been linked with Barcelona and Manchester United after his outstanding performances, particularly for Argentina during their Copa America victory.

According to

Fabrizio Romano

, the central defender has agreed to a contract until 2026. Denying the reports that the player had snubbed a move to North London,

Sky Sports

 journalist has said that

Tottenham

and

Atalanta

are now in discussions over the transfer fee while an agreement is yet to be reached.

Atalanta’s goalkeeper,

Pierluigi Gollini, has undergone an initial medical

ahead of completing a loan switch, while his teammate is a main defensive target for the Spurs' first managing director of football, Fabio Paratici.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper’s move to Tottenham is essentially done as

Gollini

is expected to fly out to London ahead of medical tests. The shot-stopper is having some tests in Italy first, the results of which will then be passed on to the Spurs staff.

Earlier this week it’s been reported

 that

Tottenham

are attempting to add a swap as part of the deal in order to reduce the cost. The Colombian defender,

Davinson Sanchez

, is the player they are offering to

Atalanta

.

The 25-year-old joined the Lilywhites from Ajax in 2017 for €42 million, and his agreement with the club extends through June 2024. He has 35 senior appearances for Colombia national team and would enjoy rejoining in Bergamo with teammates Cafeteros Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata.

Romero's

readiness to leave

Atalanta

continues to be seen, particularly as they have just qualified for the Champions League for the third consecutive year.
