England thrash Ukraine 4-0 to reach the Euro 2020 semi-finals

The Three Lions went against Ukraine in the Euro 2020 quarter-final clash on Saturday in Rome and beat them 4-0 to secure a place in the semi-finals.

England

sealed a spot in the tournament’s quarter-finals following their 2-0 win over Germany in the Round of 16, which was thanks to Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane’s goals. It was their first victory over their old rivals in a knockout match for 55 years and their first in any game against Germany in almost two decades.

Ukraine

, meanwhile, vanquished Sweden in the last minutes of the extra time in the Round of 16 to earn themselves a place in the quarter-finals.

Gareth Southgate

’s side have not conceded a goal in Euro 2020 yet and started the battle against Ukraine perfectly when

Harry Kane

met the bottom left of the net only 4 minutes into the game.

Only a few seconds into the second half, Serhiy Sydorchuk stood on Kane’s foot and England were gifted a free-kick which

Harry Maguire

steered into the left-side of the net with a determined header. Four minutes later, Kane scored his second goal and further secured a spot in the semi-finals for England. Luke Shaw provided the two quickfire assists at the beginning of the second half with the highest quality.

Kane tried to score a hat-trick but was denied by Ukraine goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan. However, that wasn’t it for England as they netted another goal thanks to

Jordan Henderson

’s header, which was his first goal ever for England.

The 4-0 victory over Ukraine was England’s biggest win at the European Championship finals as they bettered their 4-1 victory over the Netherlands at Euro 96.

England will face Denmark in the tournament’s semi-final clash.
