Barcelona might start the season without a goalkeeper

With Marc-Andre ter Stegen out of action until October due to a knee injury, the Blaugrana are on the verge of starting next season without a goalkeeper with the uncertainty of the future of their reserve goalkeepers, Neto and Iñaki Peña.

After undergoing surgery on his knee this summer, the Germany international will miss around two starting months the next La Liga season, meaning that the Blaugrana must depend on his alternatives,

Neto

and

Pena

However,

according to Sport

, Neto and Pena are considering leaving the club this summer to find more game time, which means the club might get at the risk of starting the season without any of their goalkeepers.

As a result, the Catalan giants are keen on keeping their 22-year-old La Masia product, Pena, until at least January and allow Neto to depart from the club.

Coming through

Barca’s

academy ranks, Pena has racked up 50 league appearances for the Barcelona B, but is yet to make his debut for the Catalans’ first team.

Recently recruiting super-agent, Jorge Mendes, the 22-year-old is keen to build his future elsewhere from

Barca

. If the Catalans fail to convince the academy product to stay at the club until January, they may be forced into the market for a keeper this summer, something they would prefer not to do amid their financial issues.
