Fri 25 June 2021 | 4:37

Having a fantastic debut season at the Amex Stadium after impressing during a loan spell at Leeds in 2019/20, the 23-year-old English centre-back emerged as the Gunners’ top defensive target this summer.

According to Sky Sports,

Arsenal’s starting £40m offer was rejected by the Seagulls last week

. However,

the outlet reports now

that discussions are continuing over a deal that could be worth in excess of £50m.

Brighton’s

owner Tony Bloom will seemingly not stand in

White's

way if he decides to leave the club if the club’s demands are satisfied. Hence, negotiations are centered on the structure of payments as personal terms are not expected to be a problem, as all parties are hopeful a deal can be completed.

Spending 36 Premier League appearances for Brighton last season, White impressed as Brighton survived relegation and finished 16th in the Premier League with the joint-best defense in the bottom half of the league as they conceded 46 goals.

For this summer’s European Championship competition, Ben White replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold's at England's squad after the Liverpool Fullback’s withdrawal from England’s squad due to an unfortunate injury.

Arsenal

are still in talks over a possible summer sale of

Granit Xhaka

 with

Roma

 as

Matteo Guendouzi

could be another player set to leave Arsenal in the near future with Marseille reportedly interested in the midfielder.

Arsenal are also in positive talks with Anderlecht over the signing of their Belgian 21-year-old midfielder,

Albert Sambi Lokonga

.
