The club officially announces signing Emi Buendia from Norwich.

The Argentinian winger has signed a contract with

Aston Villa

until 2026, becoming the Lions’ biggest signing in history with a £35 million ($50m) deal after proving himself as

Norwich’s

most important player.

Aston Villa announced that they had reached an agreement with the player on Monday, defeating the Gunners, who also had shown interest in signing the player, but the move was completed after the player’s successful medical tests on Thursday.

Buendia

was linked with Arsenal this season before reaching an agreement with Aston Villa and will join his squad for the pre-season soon.

The Lions’ boss Dean Smith has been happy with the 24-year-old’s arrival and here is what he has said about it in his interview with the club’s

official website

:

"Emiliano has just completed an outstanding season in a championship-winning Norwich side with 31 combined goals and assists and was named player of the season across the league.

“He is equally capable as a wide attacker or as a number 10 and is a great addition to our attacking options. We are delighted to have made such an exciting signing so early in the summer and look forward to Emi joining up with us for a full pre-season.”

Buendia moved to Norwich from Getafe in the summer of 2018 and played an important part in their return to the Premier League and impressed the supporters and other clubs in the following season despite his side’s relegation and now Dean Smith hopes that he would show the same quality in Aston Villa after winning the race from the Gunners in signing the Argentinian star.
