‘Paratici was in charge’–Agnelli says he was unaware of Suarez’s exam

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli has denied any responsibility for Luis Suarez’s Italian citizenship exam and said the deal was managed by the club’s sporting director Fabio Paratci.

Former

Barcelona

striker

Luis Suarez

went to the University for Foreigners of Perugia to obtain the certificate of the Italian language necessary to obtain the Italian passport, which would facilitate his transfer to

Juventus

.

Suarez took the exam at the University of Perugia, but it emerged that university professors had given him the questions in advance.

The people involved in the scam have been investigated and it seems that Juventus officials are starting to blame each other.

Andrea Agnelli

said in his statement to the authorities investigating the Suarez case that the one who dealt with this situation was

Fabio Paratici

, the sporting director of the Old Lady.

"Paratici was in charge of the deal, we were in talks to sign [Edin] Dzeko at that time,"

Agnelli reportedly said

.

"I remember [Juventus vice president] Pavel Nedved told me Suarez had offered himself to Juve with a text message.

"We were in talks with several footballers, Dzeko, Milik, Cavani and Morata, who eventually signed for Juventus. At the beginning of September, I was informed that signing Suarez would have been difficult because he needed an Italian passport."
