Samuel Chukwueze struggles with Villarreal

The La Liga star inconsistency struggles is putting him in danger of missing out on the pitch.

Villarreal

player,

Samuel Chukwueze

, who seemed like a promising youngster in the world of football, has failed to bring consistency into the pitch with him being featured in only two of Villarreal’s 10 recent games.

Considering the comments made by Villarreal’s manager,

Unai Emery

, on

Takefusa Kubo

, some believe that he may have been hinting to Chukwueze as well.

“We are not here to give a player 10 games in a row if he doesn’t perform,”

Emery said.

“He is given a match and he must earn more. It is valid for the young players and for everyone. There is a requirement here and that is to win.”

In December Emery told

Marca

about the 21-year-old, saying:

“We need the experience that some players accumulate to translate into improvement. We need Samu to settle after two years of irregularity in the first team.”

"We need him to make the difference and this year he’s doing it to a lesser extent.”

During his 2018-19 season, Chukwueze became one of the team’s stars and the promises of him having a bright future caught the attention of many other clubs, but this dream seem to have faded away with the player being pulled back into the sidelines.

It is expected that the reason for Chukwueze’s slip lies in his failure to double his first year stats. Though in his first spell for Villarreal, Emery was invested in the 21-year-old, seeing him fail to deliver his promise of consistency led the La Liga coach to shift to his other men including

Gerard Moreno

,

Paco Alcacer

,

Fer Nino

, and

Yeremi Pino

. The impressive display of Nino and Yeremi despite having less minutes on the pitch has proven to Chukwueze that without having the ability to back his former records his chances of being neglected on the team rise higher and with the emergence of more promising players he may have to step up his game.
