Calvert-Lewin impact is more than scoring - Ancelotti
The Italian coach believes that the 23-year-old striker has had a great impact on his team's performance.
Ancelotti have beaten Chelsea, Leicester City, Arsenal and Sheffield United in their last four games and have kept a clean sheet. While Calvert-Lewin has been Everton's top scorer this season with 14 goals, he has failed to score in those four games. Now, before the home game against West Ham, which is the last game of the year for Everton, Ancelotti praised the 23-year-old English striker.
“It is true that he didn’t score in the last (few games) as usual, as he did at the beginning, but it is also true that he was really important,”
Ancelotti said.
“Against Chelsea (he won) the penalty, against Arsenal he was involved in the first goal that was an own-goal, he had an opportunity against Sheffield United.
“He is still working really hard, so I don’t have to ask more.”
Asked about Everton recent form, the Italian coach replied:
“We found solidity at the back, after a difficult month of November, and we are pleased,”
“We know that we can compete, we have improved our confidence and our belief and we are ready to be tested again against West Ham.
“I think we are doing well. We improve, compared to last season (when they finished 12th), and this is the target, to improve every year.”
