was the favorite to pick up the FIFA award over

in a virtual ceremony on Thursday night.
Lewandowski scored 45 goals last season to lead his side to win the league and Champions League.
Football fans in Nigeria didn’t wait to applaud Lewandowski after he was handed the trophy by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
