Everton Women are struggling with lots of injuries

Although Everton Women have been struggling with lots of injuries, they are hoping to bounce back in the game against Birmingham City in the FA Women’s Super League.

Although

Everton Women

have won their opening four games of the season, they were not able to win their last four league games and they are hoping to bounce back on Sunday when they are going to face

Birmingham City

in the

FA Women’s Super League

.

Birmingham City have also lost six of their last seven home league games.

Everton have also lost many players to injuries as Gabby George, Claire Emslie, and Rikke Sevecke will not be available for Sunday but Simone Magill is fit and should be ready for Sunday’s match.

"I think last week I said we had no new injuries and then about two hours after that press conference she picked up an injury, that was a blow for us," Everton manager

Willie Kirk

said. "She’s probably out for the best part of two months.

“It’s just ankle ligaments. There was about six minutes to go in last Friday’s session. She just landed really awkwardly in an aerial duel.”

Last weekend Damaris Egurrola filled in for Sevecke and Dan Turner is also available to play in that position.

Carla Ward has been working hard since she took over at Birmingham City and her hard work has been paid off since the club not only are no longer in the relegation battle but they are seventh in the league table. Her job reminds Kirk of when he first took over at Everton in 2018.

"I think when we played them in the [FA Cup] semi-final Carla had only had about three or four games with them and you could see there was a lot of work to do, but you can see the work she’s done since then," he said. "Going into the Arsenal game [last weekend] I think they were four wins out of five, they’re on a really good run in terms of confidence. They’ve had some really good results against Villa in their Birmingham derby and they beat Reading as well. They’ll cause us problems if we’re not at our best.”

As the number of injuries has increased, Kirk is looking for the transfer targets and has also confirmed that he would like to make Claire Emslie’s stay at the club permanent as her loan from Orlando Pride will expire at the end of the month.
