Youssef En-Nesyri success at sevilla

It is said that a ‘purple patch’ is defined as a run of success or good luck for a sportsman. Football’s history is full of such instances and the story of Youssef En-Nesyri is one of them.

For example Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first two seasons at

Manchester United

were defined by record-breaking runs of form, but the most heart-warming examples are those of the unexpected.

We can all name a few. Michu, Michael Ricketts, Rickie Lambert, David Healy and Jesse Lingard are just some forwards who have briefly elevated themselves above their normal levels, scored a load of goals and captured the imagination of neutral supporters.

These purple patches have often resulted in a big-money transfer where the magic is not quite replicated. The question now is that if Youssef En-Nesyri will be the latest example of a footballing trend.

Youssef En-Nesyri was the latest addition to the last winter market. Among all of the candidates who were linked to Sevilla FC, Youssef En-Nesyri finally was the one who was chosen by Monchi to improve the Sevilla team.

As Youssef En-Nesyri was a fast forward and a talented footballer, he quickly adapted to the squad, in a short time and scored several goals.

One of the top facts about is that Youssef En-Nesyri has experienced quite a good season for Sevilla. He was signed from Leganes in January 2020, the Morocco international has netted 22 goals in all tournaments this term, which is already double his previous highest tally over a single season.

Youssef En-Nesyri has scored all different types of goals, from adaptable finishes to strikes bludgeoned through goalkeepers and moments of encouragement. This is a football player whose different qualities make a Swiss army knife look one dimensional in comparison.

Youssef En-Nesyri's link to Premier League clubs

One of the facts about Youssef En-Nesyri is that although he is 23-years old, it’s no wonder that Premier League teams are beginning to attract him. Liverpool and Manchester United are said to be monitoring the Youssef En-Nesyri, but the strongest interest has come from West Ham United.

The Hammers were futile with a £27million offer in January – which was considered “unsatisfactory” by Sevilla sporting director Monchi – and are expected to repeat their interest over the summer.

With West Ham United have an old reputation as a graveyard for strikers, plenty will be doubting whether the club would be walking into another luxurious trap after being seduced by the latest striker in form.

Youssef En-Nesyri playing style

In general, Youssef En-Nesyri is used to attracting a lot of doubters. With exceptional abilities but no associated first team, Youssef En-Nesyri moved to La Liga team Malaga five years later.

Youssef En-Nesyri’s athleticism impressed managers, but they were reservations about his first touch and decision making. As he was more reserved than the mediocre football player, concerns were also raised over whether he had the vital application to become a success.

But Youssef En-Nesyri earned himself a move to Leganes, then Sevilla. According to The Guardian‘s Sid Lowe, writing in January 2021, there were many people who had not even been that regretful to see him leave Malaga for Leganes. Currently there are doubts about him heading from there to Sevilla.

The Guardian writer said, “Many considered him limited technically, a man with a heavy touch who missed as many chances as he scored, €20million seemed high to them.”

And when the Moroccan was presented with a golden opportunity to win the European Super Cup final against Bayern Munich in September, but he could not lift the cup. Tears followed and the critics seemed justified in their doubts.

In 2020/2021 season Youssef En-Nesyri has attacked with the hunger of a man eager to show every single one of those pessimists wrong. He scored a hat-trick against Real Sociedad in January then another one was followed in the match against Cadiz two weeks later.

And when presented with another hat-trick, this time in the match against Getafe, the outcome was never in any doubt.

Another issue is the capacity of human beings to self-sabotage. And you can be sure the miss against Bayern was at the forefront of Youssef En-Nesyri’s mind when sent through by midfielder Fernando.

When a football player has self-confidence he is already halfway up the mountain. For example, as Getafe goalkeeper Ruben Yanez rushed out to prevent him from scoring a goal, the striker showed the subtlest tricks, shifted the ball onto his left foot and slotted the ball into an empty net.

Yes, Sevilla were already two goals up by this point and the stakes were substantially lower than his Super Cup miss. But it was simply further proof that El-Nesyri is a person ready to answer any questions his doubters may have of him with determination, hard work and no little skill.

These qualities in goalscoring prove that he can be one of the best African players in European leagues.

Despite the fact that his signing for Malaga club which was at the La Liga 2 was “important” for him to start his professional career, Youssef En-Nesyri can remember another key moment, saying, “The second important time was when I went up to train with the rest of the team in preseason”.

Youssef En-Nesyri confessed that his beginning was difficult, but the work made him get to where he is today now. Regarding his effort, Arrocha showed him the image of his goal against Spain in the World Cup and was satisfied with the difficulty that it entailed: “Scoring in the first division is difficult, but scoring in a World Cup match and above all in the first World Cup that I played is more difficult”.
