Most hat-tricks in football of all time

Have you ever heard the phrase hat –tricks? Are there any football lovers who have not heard of it? In every match, whenever there is a hat-trick, the heat of the game gets double.

To start our article about the

most hat-tricks in football of all time,

it's a good idea to go through the origin of this term. Just to warm up, the very first use of this exciting term backs to 1858 in cricket.

Don't you find that fascinating? The fans were so enthused after a match in 1858 when famous British cricketer H. H. Stephenson took three wickets in three consecutive deliveries that they held a collection for him and gave him a hat they had purchased with the money. Following that, this phrase was used in other sports, like football.

In football, a hat-trick occurs when a player scores three goals in one game—not necessarily consecutively. The players whose names are everywhere are the ones who have scored some mind-blowing hat-tricks. They write history.

Now, it's time to go through the

most career hat-tricks in football history

. To start our survey, it's a good idea, to begin with the first hat-tricker in football. John McDougall- the Scottish footballer- was the first player in the football world who scored a hat-trick in an international match. On 2 March 1878, when Scotland was playing against England, he scored three goals for Scotland and defeated England 7–2.

McDougal was the first hat-tricker of history, but who are the players with the most hat-tricks in football of all time?

Highest hat-tricks in soccer history

Our list begins with a well-known footballer who is for sure a legend.

The Legendary Pele

When it comes to Pele, the list of awards and trophies can extend for good. He is the owner of many footballing records. He has the record of the most hat tricks in football history by a player.

The three-time World Cup winner scored 92 career hat-tricks. That's a bit odd, isn't it? But that's Pele. Pele- Edson Arantes do Nascimiento- during his career had scored 1283 and 92 hat-tricks. Although some of these records happened in friendly games, the Guinness World Records submitted them. His first hat-trick was scored in 1957 for Edson Arantes do Nascimiento.

92 hat-tricks are astonishing but that is not the end of the story. He is the youngest player who scored a hat-trick in a world cup. back in 1958, the teenage Pele who was only 17 years and 274 day-olds, in a World Cup semi-final in Sweden against France, scored a hat-trick record that no one up to now could break it.

The second place of the list of the most hat-tricks in football of all time would go to ever-shining Cris Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The name of this 37-year-old Portuguese star is on every list. He owned the second place of the

most hat-tricks in football of all time

. He scored 60 hat-tricks, that's a huge number but still, a lot to go to break Pele's.

On 12 January 2008, he scored his first and only hat-trick for

Manchester United

in a 6–0 win against Newcastle United, after that astonishing performance Man united went up to the top of the Premier League table.

In 2009–10 season h had been transferred to Real Madrid. His first hat-trick for Madrid was on 5 May 2010 in a 4–1 win game against Mallorca. On 10 July 2018, he had left

Real Madrid

with 34memorable hat-tricks; he had scored hat-tricks against 20 La Liga teams. But a room was left. He had never scored a hat-trick in El Clasico. Ronaldo, as opposed to Pele, is the oldest player ever to score a hat-trick in a World Cup match.

His records don't finish up here, the Portuguese star scored three goals in a 4-0 win game against Cagliari 4-0 at the Allianz Stadium and by doing that he is the only soccer player in all-time who hit hat-tricks in Italy, England, and Spain's top divisions, and at the World Cup.

Ronaldo had 8 hat-tricks in UEFA Champions League, 36 ha-tricks in Domestic leagues, 2 hat-tricks in Domestic Cup, 1 hat-trick in FIFA World cup, and 9 in international games.

The third-place of our list of the most hat-tricks in football of all-time would be for Ronalo's traditional rival.

Leo Messi

But the memorable date for Messi and his fans was 10 March 2007. On this special day, 19-year-old Messi scored his first hat-tricks in a Clasico. Right his extraordinary performance, the club got to recognize his importance that led to a rise in his contract. After that match, Leo Messi introduced himself to the football world.
