Manchester City Fails to Control Players in Tense Encounter

The English Football Association announced on Monday that it has charged Manchester City after failing to control its players in the 3-3 draw against Tottenham.

Players surrounded referee Simon Hooper after he failed to award Manchester City an advantage when Jack Grealish was fouled in the last moment of injury time. Haaland, who screamed in Hooper's face, also tweeted 'WTF' after the match. He might face charges for his inappropriate behavior, although this hasn't been confirmed yet.

Harland's angry reaction was part of a clash with Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, who scored the second goal for Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium. Tottenham coach Antonio Poutikoglou also admitted that he felt his team "escaped miraculously" when Hooper blew the whistle while Grealish was sprinting towards the goal unopposed.

The English FA released a statement saying, "Manchester City has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 after its players occupied the space around the referee during the Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, December 3, 2023."

They continued, "We allege that the club, in the 94th minute of the match, failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion. Manchester City has until Thursday, December 7, 2023, to respond to the charge."

The team awaits possible additional sanctions. The potential charge of inappropriate conduct for Harland could lead to his suspension, though it's unlikely to happen before their match against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
