Gary Neville urges Chelsea to hire Mauricio Pochettino

Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Chelsea should hire Mauricio Pochettino to replace Graham Potter.

Chelsea

decided to sack Graham Potter on Sunday, less than seven months after he succeeded Thomas Tuchel. Chelsea is in 11th place in the table with just 38 points after 28 matches.

The 47-year-old Potter won just 12 of his 32 games as Chelsea’s manager. The Blues have spent over £600 million on new signings since Todd Boehly and the Clearlake Capital consortium brought the club for £4 billion last summer.

Chelsea also confirmed that Bruno Saltor will take charge of the team as interim head coach. Chelsea has been linked with Mauricio Pochettino, Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, and Ruben Amorim.

Ahead of Chelsea’s match against

Liverpool

on Tuesday, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville said former Tottenham and PSG manager Pochettino is the ideal fit for the Blues.

"Based on what Boehly has said, Chelsea have done their spending for the next three years - apart from signing a centre forward,"

Neville told Sky Sports' Monday Night Football.

"If they appoint Zidane, Enrique or Diego Simeone, they're going to want to have another £300m as they won't like some of the players they've previously signed.

"They've got to appoint a manager who is going to inherit and like the squad that they've got, a lot of them are young, and I think that man is Mauricio Pochettino."
