Nicolo Zaniolo rules out a summer return to Serie A

After leaving Roma last January for €15m, Zaniolo scored in his Galatasaray debut. Being linked with an immediate return to Serie A, the Italian midfielder eyes experiencing the Champions League with the Turkish club.

The 24-year-old clashed with Roma hierarchy to force a move in January but when a move to Bournemouth was rejected by him, he was forced to join the Turkish side, Galatasaray in a deal worth €15m as well as add-ons of up to €13m. The Italian scored his side’s winner after making his debut coming off the bench against Kasımpaşa.

It was rumored that Italy international will seek a return to Italy this summer, with Milan and Juventus interested in his signature.

“I have no intention of just staying here to wait for an offer and then go at the end of the season,”

Zaniolo told

“I want to win the title and then play in the Champions League with Galatasaray.”

Zaniolo will reportedly have a €35m release clause in his contract for Serie A teams in the summer of 2023, which will be dropped to €28-30m in 2024 and further to €23-25m in 2025.
