Barcelona to include on-loan Gonzalez in the first team next season

Currently on loan at relegation-threatened Valencia, Barcelona is planning to include the 21-year-old midfielder Gonzalez in their first team in the next season.

The Spanish midfielder joined

Barcelona

's academy in 2013 and made his first team debut in 2021. Nico scored his first professional goal on December 2021. On August 2022, Gonzalez extended his contract with Barcelona until 2026 and then joined Valencia on a season-long loan.

Before suffering a fractured metatarsal against Villarreal,

Nico Gonzalez

was a regular first-team player for the Bats' former boss Gennaro Gattuso, making a total of 13 La Liga appearances for Valencia.

Now according to

Sport.es

, Barcelona plans to include Nico Gonzalez in their first team next season as they believe he can compete with Gavi, Pedri, and Frenkie De Jong for a place in the midfield.

Nico became a member of Barca B in 2019 and participated in the 2021 Segunda Division B playoffs. He is a gifted defensive midfield whose performances have caught the eyes of many scouts in Europe. Many English clubs including Manchester City were keen on securing his services. Considering his huge potential, Barcelona does not want to lose him as they see him as a replacement for their captain, Sergio Busquets.
