Xavi assures fans that De Jong’s commitment is to Barcelona alone
De Jong has been a Manchester United for quite a long time, but Xavi has “no doubt” that the Dutchman is committed to Barcelona.
Erik ten Hag may have identified De Jong as a talent and developed him into the player he is today but Xavi is sure that a reunion between the two will not happen soon.
"I think he was really clear to me: he wanted to stay with us. So there was no doubt,"
Xavi said at a press conference.
"Now he's our player, I’m really happy and satisfied with his performances, his leadership. He's in a very good moment, like all the team.
"I think Frenkie is enjoying on the pitch and this is the most important thing."
De Jong has started 20 games for
Blaugranathis season and has scored twice. However, there were speculations that Barcelona wanted to push him out of the club.
