MLS MVP nominee Driussi commits his future to Austin FC

Scoring 30 goals and providing 12 assists in 54 MLS appearances since joining the club from Zenit in 2021, Sebastian Driussi has been nominated for the MLS player of the season.

Despite being linked to Leeds United in January, Sebastian Driussi has decided to extend his contract with Austin FC ahead of their MLS kickoff on February 25 against St Louis SC. He finished second in MLS MVP behind Nashville SC's Hany Mukhtar, who scored 25 goals last season.

"I'm delighted to sign a new contract with Austin FC,"

Driussi said.

"This club and community have made Austin feel like home for my family and me. I have big ambitions here both personally and for the team, and I'm excited to work with my team-mates, [coach] Josh [Wolff] and the staff to achieve them."

The 27-year-old helped Austin reach the Western Conference Final in the MLS Cup playoffs last season. However, a 3-0 loss to Angeles FC made them finish second in the west in their second MLS season.
