Liverpool forward Luis Diaz hopes to be fit for Real Madrid clash

Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has confirmed that he is close to returning to action ahead of the Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

Luis Diaz

suffered a serious knee injury against Arsenal last October. Diaz returned to training in December, but he aggravated his injury and had to undergo surgery.

The Colombian forward sent a message to

Liverpool

fans on Friday and confirmed he will return to action in the coming weeks.

Diaz told Sky Sports:

”Hello Liverpool fans. I hope to be back soon."

Liverpool will face

Real Madrid

in the Champions League last-16 tie, and Diaz hopes he will be ready for the second leg on March 15.

Diaz continued:

"Let's wait to see when I can come back to the pitch. If it's the Bernabeu, it'll be no worries.”

The 26-year-old Diaz who joined Liverpool in January 2022, has scored 10 goals in 38 matches for the Reds.

In his press conference on Friday, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Virgil van Dijk, and Arthur Melo are getting closer to returning to the pitch.

"The players are back in training in different stages. Jota is training now normally, already for two days. Another three days of training is possible for him. I think he’s in contention but we have to wait.

"Bobby [Firmino], I don’t know. We have to see how that looks now, how he deal with training intensity and things like that, then we make a decision.

"Virgil I don’t think is that close, but we will work on that as well. Arthur is similar to Bobby, I would say."
