Valverde breaks goalscoring drought as he sends Real Madrid into Club World Cup final

The Uruguayan is more than happy to break his goalscoring dry spell.

On the night that Real Madrid managed a 4-1 victory over Al-Ahly,

Fede Valverde

managed to finally break his goalscoring curse.

Goals from Vinicius Jr, Federico Valverde, Rodrygo and Sergio Arribas sent Real Madrid to the final for a record fifth time, making Los Blancos only minutes away from being crowned Club World Cup champions.

Despite having a strong start to the season, Valverde hadn’t scored since last year's November, putting a lot of pressure on the 24-year-old.

“(I am) very happy. I’ve felt more comfortable despite playing so many matches. I have thought about valuing every moment of this tournament. I’m very happy for the team’s performance, obviously.”

Valverde revealed.

“I thank my teammates who have helping me at this time when I have been struggling. They are always there to give me words of encouragement. It was very special to convert the goal and celebrate with them. We now have to rest and work well to win the final.”

Los Blancos

will now meet the Saudi Arabian side, Al Hilal in the final on Saturday, looking to win their record fifth title.
