Valencia CF sack coach Gennaro Gattuso

Valencia CF coach, Gennaro Gattuso, has been sacked after only 18 games with Los Che.

Valencia have announced the departure of Gennaro Gatusso as their head coach on Monday after only 18 matches in charge of the club.

The Italian tactician, who previously managed Milan and Napoli, was named as Valencia’s head coach in the summer but the Bats have struggled under his reign, sitting only a point above the relegation zone with a game in hand and at 14th spot.

Valencia

hasn’t been able to win any games after the World Cup and ended up losing to Real Valladolid in the closing minutes of the game on Sunday. This would be Gatusso’s last game in charge and he took the blame on their loss after the game.

"Valencia CF announce that this Monday, January 30th, the club and the first team coach, Gennaro Gattuso, have decided by mutual agreement to end the contractual relationship between the two parties,"

a statement from Valencia read.

"The club wish to thank Gattuso for his commitment and work during his time in charge and wish him the best of luck for the future.

"The team will return to training this Tuesday, January 31st, under 'Voro' Gonzalez."

Voro Gonzalez has had the experience of leading Los Che before, since this is his seventh time acting as interim coach.
