Atletico CEO claims it’s ‘very obvious’ referees favor Real Madrid!
Following their derby defeat, Atletico Madrid’s CEO Gil Marin has accused La Liga referees of favoring Real Madrid.
Real Madrid managed to pull off yet another comeback in a Copa del Rey clash against rivals
Atletico, defeating them 3-1. While Atletico went to 10 men in extra time, with Savic being sent off, Real midfielder Dani Ceballos managed to escape a second yellow card which has led to Marin furious about the situation.
"I have the utmost respect for the refereeing collective and I am convinced that their intention is always the best, but anyone who observes it from the outside can see that for decades it has almost always been the same,"
Marin said.
"Unfortunately, it is no longer a surprise to anyone, it is not news. It is something very obvious and you only have to remember history.
"
Madridis a club with a very strong environment, with a lot of interests around it. They create so much pressure that it is normal that it affects the people who have to make decisions. They are aware of what awaits them if they are harmed by a mistake or even a success. It is common to campaign against those who they consider to be prejudicial to them."
The fact that Ceballos’ two successive reckless challenges deserved a red card is not just Marin’s opinion as many close to Atletico believe so as well. Atleti shot-stopper Jan Oblak also voiced similar opinions as Marin.
